Fathers Day
Blueberry pancakes for breakfast, a DVD and some books as gifts and then encouraged to watch World Cup games with beer - I think I could get used to this. Beter than most birthdays infact.

We were also given a very cool baby carrier from one of Amity's online buddies. Its very comfy and lets us get out of the house alot more without worrying about Millie screaming blue murder.

JUNE13

Anyway, back to Football. The World Cup is truly wonderful isn't it? A whole month of God's Own Game with every match live on TV. I'd actually forgotten what it's like to be in England and being caught up in the whole media frenzy. In 2002 i was forced to stay up until 2am or get up at 6am to catch a game. My beer consumption suffered. In 1998 i was busy sweeping young Amity off her feet in Germany and of course we didn't qualify in 1994 so its been 16 years years since I've been in the country whilst the tournament has been on.

England have made a shaky start but have won both their games, The US were thoroughly spanked by the Czechs in their opener but fought bravely against Italy to secure a draw having had 2 men sent off. Perhaps they'll make a movie about it.

Still a long way to go but maybe, just maybe the trophy will be coming back to its righful home.

Giggles and Grins
Okay, okay. So we've been really bad and haven't written in weeks, but we have a good excuse for not having much time to ourselves! Plus, our computer has been on the fritz, which has not been a barel of fun, as you can imagine. Anyway, on to updates on Amelia:

Like a Virginia Slim, she's come a long way, baby! Starting at about 4 weeks we started getting big smiles and more attentive gazes. At week 5 she discovered her toes and a love of rattles and having her belly kissed. At week 8 I was blessed with hearing her first giggle. I, being the adoring mommy and crazy person I am, immediately went ga-ga over this and have spent countless hours just trying to get her to do it again. I got two more out of her yesterday but Daddy hasn't been around to hear them. Fingers crossed that he catches one this weekend! Or at least that I get the video camera on in time...

Everything is going reallly well, Paul is back at work and has been great at pitching in at home the minute he walks through the door, bless him. We still eat dinner in shifts most nights but last Monday we got a rare night alone together while Grandma and Grandpa babysat. We went for a couple of drinks and then cooked dinner and watched the season finale of Lost at home. It was wonderful just to curl up on the sofa together and chat about each other instead of baby, baby, baby all the time. Admitedly though, we were both very happy to see her when she got back and realized how much we had missed her. We wouldn't trade her for all the nights alone in the world.

Amelia also had her first round of immunizations last week and seems to have sailed through with no problems or ill effects. I had the ear thermometer and infant medicine at the ready just in case, but she's a super trooper and didn't get sick at all. She's got her mother's strong constitution, I see!

Aunt Stinky (Andrea) is coming for a visit at the end of June so we are really excited about that. After Grandpa Bully and Nana's visit in May, she'll have a tough act to follow but I'm sure Millie will love meeting her aunt for the first time. Hopefully she'll be giving us more of those gorgeous giggles by then...

More soon, PROMISE!!
