Amelia and I will be coming to the States for a 3
week visit in October, arriving in Chicago on the 1st
and leaving on the 20th. Sadly, Paul cannot join us
but is happy that Amelia will get to meet everyone at
last. We'll miss him a lot though!
We are moving at the end of August into a new apartment. It's a bit smaller but it's closer to the train station and shops which is convenient.
The whole 'sleeping through the night' thing has ceased to exist and we're back to waking up every 3-4 hours, but we're hoping that it's just a growth spurt or teething waking her up at night -- I was really enjoying getting 6 hours sleep at a time! We continue to go to our baby group on Friday mornings and have made a couple of new friends out of it which is great. It's nice to get out of the house and go for a coffee when it's raining and there's nothing to do inside. Amelia gets lots of comments on how strong she is for her age -- rolling over this way and that and holding herself very steady. I think it will only be a matter of a month or so before she starts crawling, She already scoots herself forward on her tummy and is learning how to lift herself up onto her knees. We're going to babyproof the new place as soon as we move in!

4 Months Old Today!

Amelia is 4 months old today -- time is flying by!
She is a real joy to be around, lots of giggles and
grins and cooing noises. She can pick up toys quite
well now and puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. Her
favorite toys right now are her plush cow that moos
when you press his tummy and a bright green rattle we
call Sammy. As long as she's got them she's quite
happy.
As you can see in some of the newest videos (check out Latest Video and July Videos), she is making lots of noises now and blowing spit bubbles galore! Her two bottom teeth continue to grow and I think another one might be on its way. She can roll over a couple times in a row now to get to a toy that is out of her reach so we have to keep a close eye on her. Won't be long before she's crawling, I bet!
We are moving to a new apartment at the end of this month so she'll have new surroundings to get used to, but I doubt she'll have a very tough time of it. Hopefully she'll be moving into her own room within a month or so, which will be a big change for all of us. I will probably not get much sleep the first few nights, running in to check on her every 30 minutes like a madwoman, but it will be nice to have a bit of space in our room back. The cot (crib) takes up a lot of room next to our bed!
Speaking of sleep, Amelia has become so easy to put to sleep, it's amazing. No more holding, rocking, ssshing, etc.. I put her in her baby sleeping bag, lay her in her cot, and sit beside her while she fusses for a few minutes but eventually gets herself to sleep every time. It's so much better for all of us that she's able to soothe herself and is teaching herself how to get to sleep. I'm so proud of her, she's done so well with it.
I'm coming over to the States with Millie in October so I hope to catch up with everyone then. I'll keep everyone posted on my arrival and departure dates and try to schedule some time with as many people as possible.
Millie and I have found a nice baby group to go to on Fridays and I am making more "mommy friends' all the time so our social life during the week is looking up. Just the other day I had coffee with a woman I met in a department store baby changing room and her 5 month-old daughter -- she was really nice and her daughter very cute. We plan to meet up every other week.
Things are just going so well for all of us right now, we're very lucky and couldn't be happier. Love to you all!
